This is the Muthali (Pacific Black Duck). This is a Yirritja bird and has special meaning for the Waramirri and Ritharrngu people. The duck flew out of the mist near Garli and travel north stopping at different places on the way. They landed in billabongs and waterways looking for places to rest and nest, but they kept moving on, ever northward until they reach the Island called Cotton Island.  Here they stopped and laid their eggs, you can see them today as egg shaped rocks.
